10 Best Cafes (and play centres!) with Free Wifi in Singapore

Whether you’re a freelancer, have your own business or just love to get out of the house to take care of your huge backlog of mama admin, cafes with free wifi are the perfect blend of work and play! Unfortunately there’s a bit of a growing trend for NOT providing wifi to keep customers flowing, so we thought we’d round up our favourite spots where the coffee’s good, the vibe is friendly and there might even be some kind of distraction for little ones on offer if they happen to tag along!

 

Cafes

The Book Café
With its homey vibe and great service, River Valley’s Book Café welcomes peaceful lingerers. They let you nurse a coffee for a while and there is a cute little corner for kiddos with some toys and books. They’ve got a stash of books for sale and fashion mags for browsing and their wifi is super-quick.

Brunetti
It might not rock our world, but Brunetti’s is a solid mama stalwart with its convenient Tanglin Mall location, decent coffee and selection of food and sweet treats. The wifi is great and at quiet times (weekday afternoons for example) you can definitely eak out a couple of hours working time there – pop the littles in Gymboree upstairs and you’re golden!

Jimmy Monkey
Located in a tucked-away part of Buona Vista is a charming little hangout which serves up some of the best coffee we’ve enjoyed in Singers and really feels like a neighbourhood joint. Friendly to keyboard warriors, they also do a selection of simple-done-right munchies.

Jones the Grocer
We steer clear of the dark ION and Mandarin Gallery branches to head to the original sun-drenched premises at Dempsey where we grab a table outside under the fans, and seek some inspiration in the leafy surroundings. Their yummy brekkie options are a great bonus as is the speedy wifi connection!

Kith Café
Our favourite branch of Kith for getting down to some serious working has got to be their random Park Mall branch on Penang Road, which is a lot more peaceful than their Rodyk Street location! Settle yourself peacefully at the back of the café with a huge mug of java and get ready to let the creativity flow!

Maison Ikkoku
We adore this little hipsterish café in Kampong Glam on a rainy day as you just can’t get cosier! Nibble on a fudge caramel brownie, indulge in one of their lattes and just accept you might be a little squished as this place is popular… Once your workday is done you can even head upstairs to their cocktail bar for a well-deserved alcoholic treat!

Manicurious
Want to know the true definition of multi-tasking? Getting a mani-pedi WHILE tapping away on your keyboard! Manicurious is an adorable nail salon/café/boutique and they’ll throw in a free coffee with every service. We dare you to resist one of their Windowsills pie slices! They also have a new outlet on Tras Street, which shares its premises with super-chic bar, Jekyll & Hide which we can’t wait to check out either!

Necessary Provisions
While it might be totally out of the way to get to, once you discover this quaint neighbourhood gem with its strong coffee and home baked goodies, you’ll find it hard to leave. And if you end up clocking a bit of overtime, you’ll even be able to sneak in a boutique beer or two… straight from the tap. Ahhhh!

Providore
This relative newcomer to the Singapore café scene is a bit of a Jones the Grocer spinoff, so you can expect fantastically simple nosh, a fun selection of takeaway gourmet treats and of course, good coffee. They’re in Mandarin Gallery in Orchard so if your concentration wanes, get your shop on instead!

Toby’s Estate
Robertson Quay’s Toby’s Estate is a longtime fave of the Sassy Mama team for its riverside views, delicious food and out-of-this-world coffee. They’ve recently undergone a renovation, so we’re excited to see what improvements they’ve made, and we’re crossing our fingers it’ll be nothing short of awesome.

Honorable mention: It might not be totally open to the general public, but mamas who fancy working at Blue House Nursery’s Pantry just need to request a membership card at the counter to join the community. Tots can amuse themselves in the little play area while mama sips on a latte and gazes out at the fields!

 

Play Centres with Wifi

If you’ve got a kid with an independent play ethic (lucky you!) then you might actually be able to head to a soft play for some quality laptop time while junior burns off some energy! Here are our pick of the most work-conducive…

Amazonia
Did you ever dream you’d be surfing the web surrounded by plastic dinosaurs and jungle surrounds? Perhaps not, eh? Well, slick corporate offices are for losers when you can tap tap scroll to the dulcet tones of children playing (screaming) as they wear themselves out at Amazonia.

Winning bonus points for the fact that the coffee shop part is entirely separate from the play area, GoGo Bambini also deserves our loyalty for their delicious banana muffins and decent salad selection. Head there on weekday afternoons for a (relatively) peaceful environment to plough through that to-do list!
